The TechWomen Program is an initiative from the United States government to bring emerging women leaders in technology sectors together with their American counterparts for a professional mentorship and exchange program at leading companies in the United States.

TechWomen: Professional Mentorship and Exchange Program
2015 Application Now Open!

From October to November 2015, ninety-nine women will participate in the TechWomen program, which includes cultural enrichment activities, professional exchanges at leading companies in San Francisco and Silicon Valley, and concludes with networking events and meetings in Washington, DC.
About TechWomen TechWomen empowers, connects, and supports the next generation of women leaders in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by providing them access and opportunity to advance their careers, pursue their dreams, and become role models for women and girls in their communities.
TechWomen is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA). The Institute of International Education (IIE) manages this program on behalf of ECA. Applicants must
• Be women with, at minimum, two years full-time professional experience in the STEM fields (science, technology, engineering, and math)
• Have, at minimum, a bachelor’s degree/four year university degree or equivalent
• Be proficient in written and spoken English
• Be eligible to obtain a U.S. J-1 exchange visitor visa
• Not have applied for an immigrant visa to the United States, or participated in a visa lottery in the past five years
• Not hold U.S. Citizenship or be a U.S. legal permanent resident
Be citizens or permanent residents of Algeria, Cameroon, Egypt, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Nigeria, the Palestinian Territories, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Tajikistan, Tunisia, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Yemen, or Zimbabwe at the time of application, and while participating in the program.
